LECTURES

Week 1: Mr. Razif introduced us to the overview of modules and also tasks that will be given this semester. He also explained clearly that for this semester we will be in touch with augmented reality. Then, he showed us seniors' previous work to give us a rough idea of what the final outcome should be.

Week 2: Mr. Razif introduced us to different types of experience designs including Brand Experiences, Service Design, Customer Experience Design, and so on.
to how to make journey maps and he also asks us to do an exercise in a group.

Week 3
Differences in AR /VR / MR:

AR
-Combines Real
-The enhanced physical world
- Extend Visual

MR
-Enhance the physics of the physical world
-Interact and manipulate virtual objects
- Extend Experience

VR
-Computer Generated world
-Sense of presence

Unity
To apply the License Key in Unity:
Hierarchy - Right Click - Vuforia Engine - AR Camera- Open Vuforia Engine Configuration - App License Key - Paste Link

Week 4:

To export to phone screen size:
Canvas Scaler- UI Scale Mode- Scale With Screen Size- References resolution - set x and y

Week 5:
Today's class is conducted online due to some reason and Mr.Razif is teaching us how to add video as an image target, add a button to control video playing,

Week 6:
Today, Mr. Razif gave us feedback on our proposal. Then, he shows us how to add a ground place.

Week 7:
For this week, Mr. Razif ask us to bring our phone cable so that we could export our unity project to our phone. He has also taught us step-by-step how to export. Android and IOS export methods are different so he taught us separately.

Task 1 // Exercises

Task // Idea Thinking :
For the first week, we are required to think of at least 3 ideas that can be used to develop Augmented Reality (AR). Based on the seniors' work examples, I learned more about Augmented Reality.

For the first idea, I was thinking of making an Augmented Reality app that can let people know the medicine's functions, the dosage of use, and the ingredients by scanning the packaging of the medicine. The reason for creating this is because I found that there was mostly medicine that didn't mention its functions and patient would not know unless they ask for a doctor.

Task // Week 2 Group // Journey Map:
For this task, we are required to group in class and discuss a place to go so that we could make a journey map that clearly writes down the whole process of going until leaving.
I was grouped with 4 people and we finally decided to choose Genting Highlands Sky Worlds Theme Park as our place to go.

Week 3 Task (In-class Exercise): We are required to open a new project in Unity and also download the Vuforia Engine packages to import into Unity. Then, we must find a picture and create a database from the Vuforia website. We then can import our database into Unity. We need to add AR Camera and delete the default camera. By adding 'Image Target' and also shapes, We can see the shapes when we show the chosen picture to the camera.

Figure 3: Work progress on Unity (Adding image target)

Then, we need to download a mobile app called 'Polycom', take a surrounding video of a certain object, export it as GLB files, then converted it to an OBJ file so that we could import it into Unity, then we can now see the object that we can when we showing the image target using AR camera.

Figure 3.2: Place it above the image target

Week 4
Today, Mr. Razif gave us a UI element asset and show us how to apply it in Unity.

Figure 4: Work progress on Unity (Adding asset- UI Element)

Figure 4.2: Work progress on Unity (Adding script)

Week 5:
To add a video as an image target: Add a 3D Object (Plane) - Add Component - Video Player - Sources Select the video

Figure 5: Work Progress on adding video into image target

To resize the canvas, we must make Canvas - Render Mode - World Space.

Figure 5.1: Adding Visual Cues "Watch This Video"

Figure 5.2: Adding an image and text (Visual Cues)

To make it invisible after we scanned the AR target:
Image Target - Default Observer Event Handler - On Target Found - Choose the file and drag into it - Function: Game Object - Set Active (Uncheck to hide)

To make it appear when we not scanning the AR Target:
Image Target - Default Observer Event Handler - On Target Lost - Choose the file and drag into it - Function: Game Object - Set Active (Check to show)

Figure 5.3: Adding a flashing effect to visual cues (animation)

To get a 'flashing' effect of the Visual Cues, we have to do some animation and the easiest way is to make it loop appear, and disappear.

Figure 5.4: Adding a button to control video playing
To control the video playing, we had to add a button and make it render mode as world space so that we can resize it.

Button: On click - Select the video - Function: Video Player- Play

Week 6:
Add a Ground Plane: Vuforia Engine- Plane Finder and Ground Plane Stage- Add to Hierarchy
Under Plane Finder - Content Positioning Behaviour - Anchor Stage - Drag Ground Plane Stage in
Add a 3D object under Ground Plane Stage

The same method goes for adding Mid Air.

FEEDBACK

Week 2:
In class exercise: Mr. Razif said that the solution to crowded people queuing for the games in a theme park could be creating a board in front of each game that indicates the number of people who are waiting inside and the estimated waiting time so that people would be alert and they can go for the game that lesser waiting time. So far overall is good.

Week 4:
For the proposal: Mr.Razif said that the first idea is workable but for the feature, I shall add features other than giving information about the medicine. Besides, I should also explain and elaborate more on this idea so that it can work properly. Then, the greeting card idea can be my backup plan.

Week 6:
For the proposal, Mr. Razif ask to put in more visual ideas that can be used so that it would not be just informative. Then, I suggest that maybe I could add 3D organ parts in the ar app so that people would understand the medicine will cure which part of their body. Mr. Razif suggest that instead of making a specific organ part, I could add a human body in a dimmer color and highlight the sick part in another brighter color to indicate that. He also asked me to certain the information part first because that is the more important purpose of the app.

REFLECTIONS
Week 2: I think making a journey map is fun, especially in a group because we get to discuss a lot during the presentation was also very fun as Mr. Razif and our classmate is joking around with their presentation.

Week 3:
In-class exercise: For this exercise, I felt very interested and had fun because we got to scan the image target and result with a virtual object showing on the screen. Then, I also felt warm when our classmates are helping each other when they meet some difficulties downloading files or other issues.

Week 4:
In-class exercise: For this exercise, I think that Mr.Razif explained every step a bit too rush and fast, and sometimes I could not catch up quick enough. But, he is very patient to teach all of us and walked around the classroom just to make sure everyone is following him.

Week 5:
Online class exercise: For this week, I feel like it's very difficult to have this class in online mode as everything is messed up and it's too hard for us to follow the steps and at the same time do it by ourselves single-screen (unless you got two screens:/) because we had to keep switching screen.
