PROCESS

Week 1: For the first week, Ms. Lilian briefed us about the projects and also we formed a group to conduct the project. Then, we formed a group based on our specialization. The group that I joined is Team 2 GEM. Groupmates included: Evaleez, Cecelia, Britney, Cheryl, Jomin, and Vernice.

We are doing a project named GEM which stands for Green Earth Movement. Our client plans to make high-quality biodegradable bamboo cups that are durable, lightweight, and suitable for both hot and cold beverages.

Then, after we read through the brief given by the business school student, we also had several questions that needed to be clarified. After that, we had a meeting with business school students.

Task to do: Personas
I am assigned to do Personas with Eva. Hence, we did two personas each.
The first persona that I created is an office lady busy working but she cares about the environment.
The second persona is a person who loves the environment and takes care of the environment using his own ability.

Week 2:
During this week, we had some confusion and some opposite ideas after we did the research, we found that the Bamboo cups price that TBS students set is way higher than what we found online. We found some competitors and have some ideas on the product design-wise.

Then, we finished our personas and also compiled our research into Miro. Then, we showed Miss during the consultation along with other research results. We had told Ms. Lilian about our concerns and ideas, and she agreed with us that we should have a discussion with TBS students and tell them our thoughts.

After that, we continued distributing our survey form and also worked on an empathy map and problem statement for this week.

We then had a meeting with business school students as well to tell them our concerns and ideas. They understand and also will consider our ideas. They also marked down the price of the products as we told them that after our research we found that the price they set is higher than the market price.

Then, we also told them our ideas on the products and we had a discussion on what the product looks like. Finally, we came to the conclusion that for this stage we could make a bamboo cup with a lid.

After a few days of distribution, we then had a meeting to discuss the next step. Britney and Jomin analysed the survey result meanwhile we doing the empathy map and problem statement.

Presentation 12/9:
On this day, we presented our research, personas, survey results, empathy map and problem statement to our clients who are TBS students.

FEEDBACK

Week 2:
Ms. Lilian asked us to discuss our thoughts and ideas with TBS students. Then, finalise the survey questions as soon as possible and distribute them so that we can get survey result data. Work on the empathy map and also the problem statement.

Week 3:
Ms. Lilian said that seems our problem statement needs to be more accurate as now it is just summarizing our research. Then, she also noted that our personas are not matched with the survey results audiences. We must set our target audience again as our survey participants were young adults. Then, after we showed Miss our art direction, Miss said that we could proceed and show her more the following week. Our logo should put more effort and also our other productions like website and packaging design.

NEXT COURSE OF ACTION

Week 1: We should also assign jobs among our group so that we can focus on our parts. Then, we can start our tasks. I was assigned to do Personas.

Week 2: We shall start doing our empathy map and problem statement.

Week 3: We shall compile our presentation slides and complete our project document. We also have to compile our own blog post.

REFLECTIONS

Experience
I think so far my feeling is this module is moving so fast as we had to submit task 1 in three weeks. And to be honest, our clients who are TBS students sometimes change their mind so fast and we had to catch up with them on their ideas on the products. I can understand their sides as they are also students the same as us, It's just that some problems have to be solved by them.

Observation
I have observed that we as designers are not just about designing the products, and website and determining the art direction, but before that, we have to do research on the products based on their brief so that we would have our own understanding of the products.

Findings
I found that teamwork is important in this module as there are so many things we need to do, and each of the specialisations can work best as a team.  Communication is always important no matter among our team or our client. We must always keep communicating to keep our information updated and synchronised.
