RESEARCH

Week 4: For this stage, we focus more on finding our art direction, before that, we decided to list out our mood board references so that we can determine our final decision on art direction on each aspect.

PROCESS

Week 4: This week, we work on making the logo as our client (TBS students) wants it the following Monday (25/9). We decided to work together as all of us can try to design the logo so there will be more ideas.

Week 5
For this week, we added more of our attempts on our products like packaging design, website wireframes, and animation video.

For my part, I have an idea for the packaging design, since our client's main goal is environment friendly, I think that reusable packaging would fit their concept. Transforming packaging to useful things like the organiser storage box.

After the consultation session, we also have a meeting to discuss our art direction with TBS students. Unfortunately, only a few members could attend due to the Midterm Exam, So we then asked them to discuss among themselves before deciding on the art direction.

They agreed with the concept of reusable packaging design but the only concern is that they have a limited budget for the packaging design, so they want packaging that is within their budget.

Then, they also clarified that the theme of "Playful" is actually meant to be more energetic and vitality. This helps us to have a better understanding of what they like.

During the weekend, we had another meeting with TBS students, and we discussed the decision that they made in the end. For the packaging, they prefer packaging that is expandable into flat paper and inside the packaging can fit more information such as product details, website links, social media, and so on. The outer layer can stick with a minimalist and simple design.

Then, we also decided on our title font and body text font. We are using the font called "Croissant One" as our title font and "DM Sans"  as our body text font.

Week 6:
For this week, we worked on the art direction as we started to solidify our direction. I also continued working on the packaging design after hearing TBS students' feedback. They prefer packaging that is expandable into flat paper and inside the packaging can fit more information such as product details, website links, social media, and so on. The outer layer can stick with a minimalist and simple design.
So, I went to find some new references that could fit this idea and tried to fold them out.

After ensuring that this is work, I then started to sketch out the packaging expanded view.

Then we compile our art direction and attempts into slides. On Tuesday, we had our presentation to Ms Lilian and also our client TBS students.

FEEDBACK

Week 4:
Ms Lilian said that we have to push harder on the logo attempts as the TBS students need it before the following week. The logo must give more attempts so that we can elaborate more. Our mood board seems to be too serious, She suggests that we should add a more minimalist and playful style. The website's wireframe and colour palette should be done before next week. Remember to keep the consistency of all your designs and solidify the art direction to make everything consistent.

Week 5: Ms Lilian said that our progress is a bit slower this week for now we should sit down and discuss the art directions only we can proceed to design our products. Then, she mentioned that we can use the vote to vote out our preferences and choose the thing we like so that we don't have to always have meetings. She also mentioned that we must solidify our art direction as for now we are quite hesitating.

Week 6: Ms Lilian said that we work quite well at this stage. The only issue is the logo has to work with a bit more effort. She is glad that we are well communicated with our client and they are pretty clear on our decision and they can also access our files to know our progression. As we have only 3 weeks to finish our prototype, we shall all start to work on it to get it done.

NEXT COURSE OF ACTION

Week 4: Work on the logo attempts

Week 5: Solidify our art direction, Have voting among us to vote out our preferences. Working on the packaging design.

Week 6: Work on Art Direction slides and project document slides. Compile everything and record it in a project document.

REFLECTIONS

Experience
In these 3 weeks, I don't think our team has lots of progression but at least every week we had some progression. I would say that our team sometimes is not working well as a team as we just work on our own parts and have no discussion between them until we need to show progression. I think the lack of communication is not good for us to keep our work updated and the consistency of art direction.

Observation
I have observed plenty of packaging design for this stage I was sketching the packaging design and I think that It was quite interesting to do it. I specialise in UIUX so I only get a little chance to do packaging design It was quite fun for me. Then, I also observed that our logo design has various and big differences from the very beginning stage. This is quite interesting to see the logo "evolve" in every stage.

Findings
I found that designing our branding like logo and font, requires us to experiment with different varieties to get the best suits us. Then, since we had 7 members, communication is very important for us especially when we doing various types of things. We need to have voting sections to decide things so that we can work more effectively.
