PROCESS

Sketches
So I began to draw my storyboard, the story starts with a rabbit that wants to find its home. So she began her journey home.

After receiving feedback from Ms Anis, I cut some scenes and tried to make scenes that could be used in a few scenes so that it would be easier for me to animate and reduce my workload.

Illustration
After done my sketch on Procreate, I started to illustrate it in Illustrator. I made sure the size of the artboard was 1920px x 1080px as that's the resolution size of the video.

I also make sure that I organize well the scene into the different layers that need to be animated so that it would be easier when I am doing the animation part.

Animation
After done preparing all the "assets" that I needed. I started to animate the motion graphics.

Week 12
Draft 1(Without Audio)
For this draft, I have basically done all the animating part, this draft is to test out whether it runs smoothly or not and I can make further changes.

Week 13
Draft 2 (With Audio)
I made some changes based on Ms Anis's feedback on the speed of each transition. I also added background music and some sound effects for the animation.

FINAL SUBMISSION

Motion Graphics Animation
- Chinese people believe that the moon will guide them home and will lighten up the road to home
“月亮会指引你回家的路”

FEEDBACK

Week 9:
Ms. Anis said that the story was okay and I shall now devise the storyboard and show her the following week.

Week 10:
Ms Anis said that only some part needs to be refined so that the angle of the character will make the animation easier and smoother. Then, she also mentioned that I could cut some parts that showed the rabbit (main character) reaching people's houses instead, adding when the night time the rabbit heard weird noises and felt scared.

Week 12: Ms Anis said that the overall video is fine and only the frame rate for some parts has to be faster. She said that after this, we can proceed to add sound effects and music for it. She was glad that I could do this animation because I do not specialize in Animation.

REFLECTIONS

Overall It's a very interesting and fun experience while doing this as I specialized in UI/UX, so basically. I did not get many chances to do animation or motion graphics. But I chose this to let myself learn something new and I knew that this could benefit me in the future.  The previous time I did animate video like this was when I was doing the Illustration and Visual Narrative in Semester 1 which was a pretty long time ago.

I was pretty satisfied with the outcome because I think my illustration skills have been improved and the story that I wanted to express and tell is pretty straight-forward and easy to understand. I think I have presented it in a good way.

The challenging part of this project is the transition of each scene. I have to think about a transition that is smooth enough but also can present the meaning. It is like when we are shooting video, we have to think about every "camera angle" and how it transits to the next scene. Meanwhile, I also need to keep it short and clear as I have set this video to be 1-2 mins.
