Week 10(27/10/21):
Mr Vinod brief us about task 3B. We have to create a greeting sticker
that can be use in social media.

Task Requirement:
Stickers size: 512px * 512px
Must include Taylor's logo
First prepare black & white design then after approve can be
proceed to color schemes
Choose a typeface from 10 typefaces given
May use some minor graphical elements
Resolutions: 72 dpi

Task 3B : Express typographically a social message, greeting that
relevant to the campus community at Taylor's university or society at
large
Steps to complete this task:
- Visual Research
- Type out greeting word chosen using 10 typefaces given
- Sketches
- Digitalized
- Color Determined+ Eye candy(Shading/Highlight)
- Animated (GIF)
1. Visual Research
The greeting that I choose is 'Happy Halloween'.

3. Sketch
I did not do much sketch because I think that it is better to experiment
using Illustrator because we could look at the font. The first one I
sketch is like a graveyard. Then, the second one is a pumpkin. The third
one is the greeting sticks with the spider web. Then, the fourth one is
like a broom flying away. I feel like what I draw is too much graphic
elements than expressing the greetings.

The first design that I make is a shape of pumpkin. Then, the second one is
I tried to make something shaking or shivering. The third one, I make a
spider web behind the greeting is like the greeting has been trapped. The
forth one I added lots of small element such as graveyard , spiders and
spider web. Then, the fifth one I want to make a 'ghost with white cloth'
style of words. Then the sixth one is also lots of small element such as
axe, broom and cute ghost.

So before I begin, I also search for color schemes for Halloween.

I experiment various color combinations of the greeting and I like the
second one the most because I think purple and orange is the best color to
represent Halloween.

6. Animated (GIF)
I want to make the words appear slowly and also the blood dropping down
from the teeth.

I started to change the opacity to the text and also change the shadow
position moving out from left to right coming out from the original text.
Then I also change the position and opacity of the blood drop so that it
shows that the blood is dropping down from the teeth.

Then when I done with the animation part, I tried to use the method from the
link given by Mr Vinod. I downloaded the extension called 'Bodymovin for
telegram stickers'. I tried many times but still appear this when I
rendering.(Fig 6.1). I have also tried to remove my gradient background and gradient element but the situation is still the same. So at the end, I export using
Adobe Media Encoder.

FEEDBACK
Week 11(3/11/21):
General Feedback: Mr Vinod ask us to focus on expressing the greeting
words and not just adding too much graphic element into it.
Specific Feedback: Mr Vinod said that I can proceed on idea number 2 and
number 5, He also suggest me to make the words wrap in a shape that looks
like vampire teeth. Overall is good and I can make something like blood
drop under the teeth and put the Taylors mark into it.
Week 12(10/11/21):
Specific Feedback: Mr Vinod said that I can choose the second color
scheme which is the one with purple color background and orange color
words. He also ask me to put the 'blood' slightly
bigger.
REFLECTIONS
Experience
This task is one of my favorite task to do in Typography because it was quite fun. It interesting to see that people using the stickers that you create. I think it is not a heavy workload while doing this task compare to previous one.

Observation
I observed that we should keep the stickers as simple as it
can so that the greeting words can be recognized easily when
people sent in using Telegram. I also observed that although
while we are designing the words we care a lot on the details
but at the end of the results , the stickers is smaller than
what we expect.
Findings
I found that creating a stickers is not a
easy progress although we use it everyday by just pressing it ,
It takes a lot of times and also many changes until the stickers
done. I also found that the design goes well with colored must
also goes well with black and white but design with black and
white should choose wisely on the color.
FUTHER READING
"A clever graphic designers love to use typography to explore the
interaction between the look of type and what type actually says. In
communicating a message, a balance has to be achieved between the visual
and the verbal aspects of a design."
Visual Languages: the meanings created by the visual
appearance of both text and image. The character and significance created
by carefully selected typography. The visual language established when designing with type can bring into
play not only emotions, but also physical responses.
Verbal language: the literal meaning of words, phrases and sentences. Often used to inspire and shape design and typography in order to
get a message across, with the goal being to make the most of the viewer’s
reaction.
