Exercise 1 :Contrast & Gestalt// 24/8-31/8 Week 1-2

Description : I drew this as my contrast artwork is because Malaysia Independence Day is around the corner so I decided to draw Malaysia's national flower 'Hibiscus'. I make some white spaces between every petal to make it more contrast. Besides, I also added a frame on it so it shows more contrast.

Description : I drew the white space of the penguin as a fish because penguin ate fish. Then, I also drew a background which is some ice fields and water so it shows that the penguin is right there.

Description : I drew this pattern because I think this pattern is nice when it is repeating. I drew it like water flow shape as Ms Jinchi suggest it and it somehow create some movement too.

Description : I drew this artwork has many umbrellas and the one I placed in the middle is the one I want to emphasis so I paint it to yellow. Then, I also drew some patterns on it to make it looks more special.

Description : I drew this pattern because I think this pattern is nice when it is repeating. I drew it like water flow shape as Ms Jinchi suggest it and it somehow create some movement too.

Exercise 3: Harmony/ Unity/ Symbols/ Word and Image// 17/9- 1-10 Week 4-6

Description : I drew many different shapes in this artwork. It contains organic shapes and also geometric shapes. I placed it together but the result is they work well in an artwork. Then, I also use monochromatic colors to paint it.

Description : I drew this design as a round shape to show that this is Earth, and I also drew lots of plastics and rubbish at the bottom of the circle to indicate that human have polluted the ocean . I drew a sea turtle that had its head stuck with a plastic bag and also a whale that was trapped by the fish net that humans threw into the sea. Then, I also added words on the artwork which is 'Ocean Pollution' at top middle. I drew this to create awareness to the viewers that we must love our environment or else earth will be destroyed by us one day.

Description : In conclusion, what I tried to tell the viewers is this is what I hope to be in the future. First of all, I hope I can always be happy and not overthink. So I draw myself a smiley face because nothing is more important than your own feelings. Then I drew blue hair for myself. I really like the color blue and one of the reasons is I like to watch the sea. I feel very calm and peaceful when I am looking at it. Then, I draw myself a 'galaxy eye', I like to see the stars although there's not much in the city. We were just a tiny dust in the universe and why do we have to worry so much every day. I hope that I can live in the moment and enjoy my life. Lastly, I draw some flowers on my cheek because I love flowers. I like how the flowers bloom and how pretty they are when they bloom. I hope that I can 'bloom' in the future too in my field.

Description : The place I drew is called 'Lata Kinjang' and it is a waterfall in my hometown Chenderiang , Perak. I really miss my hometown a lot because I have not gone back for more than a year due to the pandemic . To me, this waterfall has a lot of good memories because we will always go there when we go back to our hometown. And I also drew a few pairs of shoes beside the waterfall to indicate that people like to come here and play around. It was very fun and cold when we played around there. Nowadays there is not much chance to let us put down our phones and get close to nature. Some natural places had already been destroyed by humans so I tried to draw this down so that at least we will be remembering it.

Description: I chose Taylor Swift as the model for this poster because She is my idol. The reason I chose this color scheme is because she has an album called 'RED' and I really like this album. Then, I arrange three stripes from top left and also right middle to create some movements. I place a circle with a pink liquid texture behind the model to emphasize it. I also placed the snakes on the diagonal which is on top right and bottom left. This snake logo represents one of the albums called 'Reputation'. I like her attitude of revenge on people who insult her with this album. And the last part, I added her name in the poster.

REFLECTIONS

What have I learn in this module?

I have learnt the design principles that we must apply on our artwork. I also learnt that there can be more than one principle appearing in an artwork. It does improve my observation skills on looking at peoples artwork and learnt something from it.

What did I enjoy the most?

I think I enjoy the most on doing the project 1 which is self portrait because it let me think about myself a lot to draw out this. I like how Ms Jinchi cares about our progress and we must show her our progress weekly and this does monitor me to do things quicker. She also gives us a lots of useful feedback so that we can always improve on our artworks.

What did I not enjoy the most?

I feel like it is a bit hard to submit 2 artworks in two weeks since we still have other assignments so I feel a bit overwhelmed at the beginning of this semester. Sometimes I will feel a lack of ideas and feel lost when I am doing the assignments.

What have I learnt about myself through this module?

I don't want to set a very high target for myself because I am a pessimistic person and I will feel depressed and stressed if I get a bad outcome on my artwork. I learnt to accept and love what I draw and don't try to compare myself to others because it was useless and won't let me grow. I also learnt to praise myself that I am doing well and encourage myself to work harder in the future.

What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?

I think that my attitude has changed a bit because I was a very procrastinating person and after I studied in this module I improved and became more hardworking to finish the task. And what has not changed is my passion for designing. I still choose to continue studying this course to see what I can achieve in the future.

What could be improved in this module?

I think it could be better if the lecture notes contain more examples of the existing artwork so that we can understand the expected outcome and get to know more awesome artworks.
